SEDC Leadership Award!

This is the third year the SEDC Leadership Council has selected and presented the Leadership Award to recognize exemplary projects in emissions reductions throughout Region 4 for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Leadership Award will be presented annually to a Private Industry Leader and a Public Community Leader (state/local government, non-profit) who have implemented projects that best meet the SEDC goal of reducing emissions, through the incorporation of at least one of the four objectives of the SEDC:

  • To expand education and outreach on the air quality and public health effects of diesel pollution from legacy diesel engines and strategies to reduce its impact;

  • to promote the use of clean diesel fuels and retrofits on legacy diesel engines;

  • to develop incentives that support (or facilitate) the use of retrofits; and

  • to promote idling reduction and other operational strategies.

With rapid population growth and increasing development pressure, the SEDC Leadership Council believes it is critical that businesses and industries which are improving air quality in the region through superior practices and policies be recognized by their peers and promoted as examples of exceptional corporate environmental stewards.

How many awards will be given?
  • Three Gold Awards will be given—one private Industry Leadership Award, one public Community Leader Award, and one Visionary Award.

How do I submit my entry?

Following the criteria listed above, applicants must complete the following Downloadable Form and submit a narrative description of their project to Kelly Scheckler prior to March 16, 2012.
