Members of the Construction Committee are working to reduce emissions from major construction projects in areas across the Southeast, focusing on those that do not meet national ambient air quality standards. Strategies include equipment retrofits, development of construction emissions reduction plans, clean fuel use and contractual incentives. The Committee is currently working on the following Actions for FY 2008:
- -Green contract and grant language (EPA R4 effort) – (link to C)
- -Governors Desk Statement/Executive order – draft (link to A)
- -Training for state contracting officers on diesel strategies (link to B)
- -Coordinate with DOT- idle reduction campaign at road and transit construction sites (link to D)
- -LEED – to expand requirements for clean diesel equipment
- -Work with FAA to incorporate clean diesel construction strategies as part of “FAA construction Best Practices”
- -Coordinate with Army Corp of Engineers and Department of Defense on clean construction contract language
- -Train RPMs and OSCs on available environmentally preferable practices, including clean diesel technologies. Identify the data -desired for outputs
