The Southeast Diesel Collaborative Funding Forum, held on March 7-8, 2007 in Nashville Tennesee, provided attendees a unique opportunity to learn about federal, state, local, and private funding sources available to help reduce diesel emissions in the southeast and to network with presenters, discuss potential projects, and foster partnerships. This session will focus on federal funding opportunities and the variety of grants, loans and other programs that are available, including programs under the US Dept of Transportation (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ), State Infrastructure Banks, Section 129 loans), US Dept of Energy (infrastructure grants, other programs), EPA (SmartWay Transport Partnership loans, Energy Policy Act (EPAct) retrofit funding, Innovative strategy programs), and US Dept of Agriculture (SARE, EQIP, Conservation programs)

This session will focus on innovative state funding mechanisms which can be duplicated in other states or local areas. Representatives will give an overview of how these programs were established and implemented.

The SmartWay Transport calculator and a demonstration of the “Grants.gov” website (which will be required for all future government grants) will also be available during this session.

Speakers will discuss efforts to promote a variety of diesel emission reduction efforts and enhance funding opportunities in Tennessee. Presentations will include success stories and stumbling blocks associated with funding and suggest potential ways that innovative diesel strategies might be replicated by other organizations. This session will also include a 15 minute question and answer portion instead of a break.
11:30 Large Scale Projects and Innovative Funding
Moderator: Kelly Sheckler (EPA Region 4)
This session will focus on one or two case studies on how large projects are funded and other innovative funding efforts.
